Football, Taylor Swift and a decapitation: What America Read on January 1, 2014

I regularly look across Youtube, Google and widely read U.S. news sites, to find out what the general public read, watched and shared on those days.

On New Year’s, Americans were apparently interested in the following things:

1. New Year’s Day College Football – The Sugar Bowl, Outback Bowl and Cotton Bowl games

2. Taylor Swift’s Holiday gift for fans

3.  Updates on AirAsia flight 8501

4.  A Florida man who beheaded his mother with an ax, over her nagging about chores.

He was, apparently, schizophrenic.

5.  17-year old Leelah Alcorn’s suicide out of her desire to live as a trasngendered female, and her mother’s reactions
